4th of July!

Happy Birthday USA!!

Found out yesterday then, that Fort Carson was having their fireworks Friday night. I was sooo tired, but felt I needed to let the kids enjoy them. I took them out to mcD's first, and good thing too that we didn't try to BBQ. As it started to pour down!

Anyhow, after McD's we decided to find a park with a view of fort Carson, I didn't feel like trying to find my way around there in the dark. So we went up to Broadmoore Valley park first. The kids played for a while, until Jacob hit his head on a bar over the slide. I guess he was trying to slide in between the bars.. He has a 'nice' big bump there now and he was in bad pain. So I decided to find a store to buy some Tylenol for him. As the other kids still wanted to see the fireworks.

Driving down the hill, I found a few more nice parks, one with even better views. And then finally a 'Safeway'. I ran in and got some Tylenol and we went back to the other park. A few more families came to watch the fireworks there.

As I was increasingly tired and also the kids, I was getting slightly impatient for the 'show' to start. But nothing.. It was said to start at 9:30pm, but at 9:45 nothing, and I decided to pack up. I had been up since 4 am, I needed sleep..

We drove down the hill, the kids were sad but accepted that there were no fireworks. We drove by the gate of Fort Carson, no fireworks. But then, as we drive into out little block at home, there, far away, we see some fireworks going up. So I park outside a small playground and we watch the show, now very small since we are quite far away. The show was short, 15 minutes and it is over. But we got to see it. Sort of.

I really am sad that memorial Park is not having any, but then again.. The rain is pouring down right now so I guess it is OK..

Other than that.. Today our new Elders came knocking on our door to tell of their/our faith.. I guess they didn't know we lived there and they didn't recognise me or the kids as we opened the door. Sophia opened the door and then came and told me that the missionaries were there. I thought maybe they needed some help or something, but they just told me that they were missionaries for our Church. Hmm.. I guess we really should try to visit with them more.. Just hard to have them over for dinner when we are almost never home at the same time..

Some day.. Rich will be done with school, have a job that can support our family and he can be home with us at night. Some day..
