Windows and other things.

Saturday.. And I got to sleep in, til 7. At that point Aslan had had enough and kept licking my nose to get me to wake up.. Purring loudly in my ear.. It is kind of cute, but can also be very annoying.

Also.. I found out something slightly irritating yesterday. As we live in the "cheaper" part of town, our school is "Title 1". Which basically means the school gets extra funding because many students come from Low Income families. Anyway, Our school has a very nice lady working there as the "Community Liaison" It is her job to help the low income families to have the basics for the children attending the school. As our school is a uniform school, the low income families can be given uniforms and/or other clothing for their children.

Anyway.. Because of the whole 'car window' thing last weekend, my dear son Jacob thought he was now very poor... At some point he talked to Miss L, and she.. Instead of calling us to see what is going on, tells my seven year old son that we will be given uniform tops for the three children attending the school, and also new shoes. Jacob wore his new shoes as he came home yesterday...

Now.. I can see my seven year old having overheard me and my husband talking about the extra 400 dollars, and how upset we were about having to spend it on the car window.. But.. Why on earth would Miss L not contact us!!! First?? Before telling my seven year old son what he will be given.. And not only that, but also give it to him..

It isn't a 'pride' thing either. We have, in the past, needed the help, and also received it. But at this point we have gotten so far that we are not needing anymore. But I know there are families that do!
So.. Needless to say, the shoes are going back. And the uniform tops will stay at her office for someone else.

As for another note. We (me and my husband) went to Pella the other day. To check out their windows. Even though their windows have very good reputation, and they have many different styles of windows.. I still like the Champion windows we looked at first. Even though they are not wood.. And they only have one style.. Standard. And that is it. Hard choices..

The windows that the Pella sales guy recommended, are the double hung "pro" series. There the windows can be tilted in, for cleaning on the outside. Champions windows all pop out all together, and I could basically sit in the couch and clean them.

Pella has a 20-2 warranty, meaning 20 years on the window construction, and 2 years on the installation.

Champion has lifetime warranty, even if we sell the house, the warranty will be transferred to the new buyer, on EVERYTHING. Construction, glass pane and installation.

Even if the pane breaks because of our own doing, the champion people will come and switch it for no cost.. Pella, we would have to use our home insurance..

Choices, choices..

Till next time.
