So we are still trying to learn more about Sophia's health problems. Thursday she had called home about lunchtime, not feeling well. Rich went and got her home. So yesterday we wanted to make sure she was ok, she had breakfast and after eating she got almost lethargic. She was sent to bed. And went willingly, unusual to say the least.
Rich then made a call to Dr Hollister and he called back later during the day, when I was home. She now has the official diagnosis. It is Lupus. He (Dr Hollister) agrees we probably caught it early. He urged us to use sunscreen on Sophia's face whenever she goes outside, to save her skin from more rashes. He also prescribed more medications. Some anti malaria drug, also used on Lupus.
As for all the blood tests taken last Friday, and urine, it all came back negative, which is good. But he said that 60% of lupus patients test negative on those tests, so they prove nothing, as far as that goes.
But the loss of appetite and fatigue is strong markers and also the red cheeks.
We have to learn much more of this disease now..
As for the summer, we have decided to have Rich change his schedule to Mon-Fri. Working 3:15pm-11:45pm. Sat. and Sun. off. When school starts for him for fall quarter he will go back to the schedule he has today.
That way he will be home with the kiddos until I come home from work and the other way around too!
Till next time.
