We are closed tomorrow and Saturday for patients, but we are supposed to be open for business as usual on Monday. Crazy!
As for doctors visits. Dr Nyack was very nice, and good at explaining. Sophia continues on Syntroid and I finally got the test results in writing.
First test, when she got the diagnosis.
TSH 31.79 mcIU/mL
Free T4 0.8 ng/dL (I think this is within norm?)
ANA positive 1:640
Next test, after 6 weeks of meds.
T4 11.5mcg/dL
T3 uptake 33%
TSH 0.050mcIU/mL
TPO 3880IU/mL
As I understand it, TSH is low, almost indicates overdosing of meds.. But TPO is very high. indicates that her system is under attack from her immune system.
Then last Friday we went to see Dr Hollister. up in Denver. Also very nice doctor. He said there are 11 criteria for a lupus diagnosis and one would need four to get the diagnosis.
Sophia has three.. As of now, officially. She has the positive ANA. Joint pain, and symptoms of immune problems (thyroid gone). But as I was thinking about this thing with the rash.. I looked it up on the net. And it can be everything from really red and crusty rash to a light shading of rosy cheeks. So I took this picture of Sophia..
The butterfly lupus rash... I will show it to Dr. Hollister when we see him in may.
