Sunday... The day of peace?

War broke out today.

My twin boys were the combatants.. This time.. One pair of pants, one belt. That is what they were fighting over. End result? No one is wearing the belt and Jacob is in 'time out'/room arrest until he decides to talk..

No, off course a fight between my two boys isn't something unusual, but lately Jacob has gotten himself into so much trouble I am at a loss to how to deal with it. At school there has been a few 'office visits'( been sent to the principals office) and phone calls to us about it, his teacher has also had to call us and his 'after school program' calls us often..

We are thinking it is a few reasons combined, as to what brings this about.. Jacob is very stubborn. Almost to a fault. He is also a very bright and smart boy. And he has very strong feelings and opinions to what is fair and correct. These do not always coexist with 'society's'/parents/teachers/leaders point of view..

So when Jacob feels 'wronged' in any way he voices that opinion OR he goes completely silent, refuses to talk or move.. That 'shutting down' behavior is what gets him into trouble at school and other functions. At home we tend to send him to his room until he is more willing to talk, but that off course does not work in other settings. Now.. Lack of maturity to express himself and also lack of words to use to express feelings are some of the problems, but how to explain this to a 7 year old? And how does one handle these 'shutting down' periods? I don't know..

The leaders and teachers in school does not know.. But I am so tired of it now..I just want it to stop..

So.. the other extreme, when he voices the feelings.. It is done with actions and noise. Noise being loud screaming.. Actions can be hitting/kicking or whatever he can find that will annoy the other person. And let me tell ya, the kid is GOOD at finding ways to annoy..
That has also gotten him into trouble at school and his 'after school program'.

He will start to 'bump' against a wall, or push the person he is angry at.. Or throw things on the floor just because.. Oh.. it is beyond annoying, and he will keep going for an eternity..

He is 7 years old. And I am loosing my mind!

Our cat. Aslan. Isn't he nice.
