That is the question..
Today I was supposed to train the new hire for the weekend position. She showed up at 6:30 according to plan. I had been told she was extremely shy, but I thought things worked OK. We were very busy with three dogs on fluid pumps, and four de-clawed cats and one more dog in the run plus one hospitalized cat.
I showed her how to disconnect an animal from the pump, so she could move/walk the dog. I showed her how to medicate and where to find meds. I showed her where to record temps etc. things went good.
Then other people started to show up, and I was asked to help out with anesthetizing a ridge back. She was mostly observing at this point.
And then as the dog was under, I was asked to trim the claws, extremely short to shorten the quicks. of course this will bleed.. And the girl faints.. As she fell, she hit her head on the wet table next to us. The corner of it, hit her behind her ear. A lot of people rush to her aid, and gets her outside.
It takes a while, maybe 15-20 minutes but she is brought back inside again, and faints again.. At this point she is asked for phone number for someone to come pick her up. She is supposed to show up tomorrow again, try again.. But can one really work at a place where blood is often, if one faints at the sight of blood?
I Don't know. Thing is.. She is going to school to become a vet. tech. And faints at the sight of blood.. How will that work?
Anyhow.. Tomorrow is the day we will celebrate Sophia. As she is 12 now. Don't really know what we will do.. But it sounds like the indoor pool is what she wants to do..
It might be raining, so we are looking for something indoors.. We will see..
