MRI

Amanda had her MRI today. Even though she has been sick.

I called yesterday to see if they wanted us to reschedule, but they said to come in anyway.

The only thing was that they didn't want to sedate her if she had been sick recently, but as she is over five years old, they thought she could do it without sedation.

They said she would have 'contrast fluids' put in a IV at the end of the exam, and that worried Amanda a lot more than having to be still in a huge magnet for 40 minutes. The kid has her priorities straight!

Anyway, with a promise of a special present if she was brave, she decided to at least give it her best.

So this morning she had a light breakfast and off we went. Memorial North. We got there a little early and went to register. i got a little shock, as they told me the co-pay was $100. Gulp! Anyway, it is good that Rich has a medical account at work, so we will get reimbursed.

After registration we were ushered into a room where Amanda got to lay on a bed, while I filled out the last of the paperwork. Making sure we had no metal anywhere we were then led to the room where the MRI machine is.

Amanda got to chose radio station and laid down on the machine bed. She was nervous, but determined to do good. I think a little excited also. I was given a pair of earplugs, and was told I could sit outside of the machine so I could touch her leg trough out.

And the exam started. Very laud clicking noises. Took about 40 minutes and Amanda was very still and so good!

In the end they did not need to give her any contrast fluids at all, so she never got poked at.

They gave her a book to take home, she picked "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs"

And that was it. We should get the results on Friday or Monday.

Form Mommy and Daddy Amanda got a new silver chain for her necklace, the old one broke.

We are very pleased with her!
