Even though we had decided to 'only' go to R36, which is the recommended minimum level for attic space here in Colorado, the guy gave us R38.
He told Rich that the insulation that we had, was very uneven, and at the west side of the house we had about 5 inches deep, but the east side was only 2 inches. No wonder our house was cold!! R36 would have increased the insulation depth to 15 inches, but now we are at R38. Even better.
Now, together with our new windows and the new Refrigerator and stove and the insulation, we get a credit of $550 on utilities and a tax break of $1500 in the spring! Plus the money we save by using less energy in the first place!
I started a little early on the decorating of our house, by putting up my advent star in the living room window. It looks so nice and homey!
