It is the season.. For report cards.
OK, backtracking a little..
Today Sophia left for Girls camp, her second year. New for this year is that the Church has acquired property outside Pueblo. Camp Joseph. I am not sure how ready it is, so I am not sure if they are staying in cabins or tents. But my understanding is that Girls camp, Zion camp and scout camps and also YA camps will be held there, kind of like out in CA where we had Camp Ritchie.
Anyhow, it is so strange to see Sophia so big, so ready to be without me. But also inquiring to see if I will miss her;-).
And of course I will. But I am also glad she has this opportunity to grow and experience things!
Also.. I went back to my podiatrist today. And he gave me one more shot of cortisone in my right foot. can't say that it feels good yet.. Hopefully I wont have to go as far as surgery.. I really do not want that!
And.. so back to report cards.
I have yet to receive the report cards from the elementary school, but today Sophia's card came in the mail.
Sometimes I wonder what my grades would have been like, if I had gone to school here. It seams that my teachers graded us more by opinion than actual work performance. And i don't think I was necessarily very much liked by my teachers..
Especially not before Gymnasiet (high school level). But even in Gymnasiet, it was uncommon to achieve higher than a 3. Way back when I went to school, our grades were in the form of numbers. 1-5. 1 being the worst, 5 being the best.
Mostly I got 3's. I had a few 2's and a few 4's. But I have NEVER had a 5, in any subject. As a stretch, my teacher would give me a 4+, but the little + never showed up in the actual report card.
So.. Here I look at my oldest daughters report card. And she has good grades! I know she works for them, and she is able to achieve, because it is based on results not teachers opinions of her. And I am happy!!
Sophia's results for 7th grade.
