Pancakebreakfast and 4th of July parade with Young Marines

Again, it has been awhile.

Usually I am the one that gets to take the kids to their YM activities, but not the pancake breakfast for the rodeo. That was held at 5-9 AM on a Wednesday. and I was at work. So Rich took the kids. This was a community service thing, so the kids got to help collect garbage from the people having breakfast. And also see all the festivities off course!

Amanda and Sophia.
Sophia collecting garbage.
But Young Marines is so much more!
As 4th of July is tomorrow and we celebrate this country's birth the Young Marines had the opportunity to march in the Monument Independence's Day parade. This is said to be the biggest small town parade in the country! It is an honor to participate!
The day brought beautiful HOT weather. And the kids were to wear their cammies with ribbons.
And they pulled it off too! The platoon were honored with a ribbon for military best appearance!

The kids waiting for the parade to start. Amanda in picture and also Commander Hoard, the main leader.

This is Amanda and her good friend Cambell. They look so alike that people ask if they are twins. Off course they are not. Cambell is actually a year and a few months older. Amanda to the right.

All the kids in formation. Getting ready to march!

Commander Hoard again.

So we got to watch some of the parade. Here is a man with a very old cannon! Very loud also. Hehe..

One of the floats. America, the home of the free because of the brave. Honoring our military men and women.

The Marine Corp. Every one stood up for them, even the ones that brought chairs to sit on.

And here is our platoon.

Sophia's face is blocking Amanda. But the boys are in the picture.
Sophia did not get to march as she hurt her foot the other day, falling off her bike. But hopefully next year!!
After the parade we went home to change and had lunch. And tried our best at staying cool. Very hot today!!
Happy Birthday America!!
