Do I dare?

I do not know how much to say about last week as we are still not sure of what is what... To rewind, Amanda got sick last week end. Nothing major, a cold. Anf then on Sunday it presented with sore throat. VERY sore throat. We (I) though strep. So I asked Rich to make an appointment at the Dr. on Monday. It ended up being me taking her. At the dr. they tested for strep( quick was neg, but came bac pos. on Wed) and flu (neg) and of course they also listened to her heart... At that point the dr. asked me to take Amanda for an EKG as she detected irregular heart beat. My first thought was that it was only one of those extra tests that American drs are so good at ordering.. No big deal, if it happens it happens. I got home and first called work. Then called our insurance company for a cost of the test and then the hospital. It seamed to be a walk in thing and away we went.

The test itself only took a few minutes.

Wednesday they called from our pediatricians office and let us know that Amanda DID test positive on the strep. culture and we got amoxicillin for her. On Thur, they called again saying they had recieved the results of the EKG and Amanda needed to get to the cardiologist ASAP. So we got an appointment for Fri am.

There they did a long ultrasound of her heart, another EKG and the dr. explained that they had noticed PVC's and he thought it most likley something she was born with. BUT, since she had a diagnosis of strep, it could also be myocarditis, a viral inflammation of the heart. The way we would know is, if she is born with it they will still be there after she is healthy again.

She also had to wear a Holter monitor for 24 hrs. To monitor how often these PVC's appear. The results and next appointment with a treadmill test will be on March 3rd.

Until then.
