Visits to doctors..

Today I had the day off so I could go with rich and Amanda to Denver again. To meet with CPNP Maddox. She is a Nurse practitioner that works at the headache clinic at the children's Hospital in Denver. As we tried the Periactin for two months, we decided that it wasn't helping Amanda as well as we had hoped. So we are now going to try Topamax. It is pills, for her to swallow whole. I do not know how well she will do with that.. But we can crush them and mix with some yogurt, if we have to.

She will get 25mg SID. We are to call if we see no improvement in 2-3 weeks.

She also ordered some blood work. to test: complete blood count, complete metabolic panel, anti-nuclear antibody, erythrocyte sedimentary rate, c-reactive protein, thyroid group and vitamin D level.

They took four tubes of blood from my very nervous daughter.

The trip up to Denver was ok, but close to Lone Tree we encountered slow down in the after mat of an accident. So I am glad we had some extra time.

At the return to Colorado Springs, we had a phone message from Sophia, saying she was not feeling good. So Rich took Amanda to go get Sophia as I got Jonathan off to his Dr app.

So at 2 we met with Dr Cunningham, our pediatrician. She decided to send Jonathan to Denver also, but we are to do the blood work down here, before we go up there. And also start him on the Periactin to see if that will help him. And then take it from there.

For both children we are to use two adult Advil as abortive medications and also keep a headache diary to note frequency and duration and maybe even triggers of the headaches.

Dr Maddox also wanted Amanda seen by an Opthomologist, so she will be seen by Dr Carlson tomorrow. Incidentally the same Dr. that operated on my left eye to correct my strabismus. She is good, and I am glad Amanda will be seen by her.

So that is what is going on.. Not much fun at all..
