So it is set now.
I'll go under the knife on Thursday. I don't know if I have said anything about my foot here.. But since over a year back, my foot(right) has been hurting. Different shoes did not help, it just kept getting worse. And then spread to the other foot. Rich has been very helpful trying to massage my foot at night, but not any better. Finally I decided to go to the doctor. A podiatrist.
He took x-rays to make sure it wasn't broken, and then told me I have Plantar fasciitis.
He said that is the most common problem he sees in the office. First I was told to buy special inserts for my shoes, and then try stretching and ice massage for three weeks. It got better, but still hurt. Then he gave me cortisone shots. Ouch!! They do NOT feel good. Not while you get them and not for the next 24 hours or so..
That helped, about 90%. But wore off.. So three weeks after the first shots I got another one in my right foot.
Than another month. The second shot did not really do much... So a third shot seemed unnecessary.. So now it is surgery.
Thursday 7-22-10. At 7am. They will go in a small incision in front of the heel, inside of the foot and cut part of the tendon. And then stitch me up again. The tendon will be relaxed and hopefully thus heal! I will have to walk in a surgical 'air cast' boot for a while. At least 2,5 weeks, until the stitches come out.
I will have day of surgery off, and the Friday. And Sat. and Sun off course. And then try to work on Monday again. Limping.. Needing to sit and rest my foot. Work is aware.. In fact my supervisor just had surgery on her foot..
I'll let you know how it turns out.
