Birthday

Today I am officially Over the Hill. Yes, 40. But it was just another day.. So..

But again, I am rally bad at this blogging thing. I have to start last week.

Wednesday morning, last week. I got in and saw that we had one dog that had stayed the night non fluids. i go to check on him before I open up the building, as I always does. Except this time.. The dog was barely breathing, the heart was beating but only just.. So I ran to call Dr. Bausch, his veterinarian. Off course it is her day off.. But it is protocol that I call that Dr that is the main on the case. She asked for the owners phone numbers and we hang up. I go back to the dog, but now he is gone.. I go get a stethoscope to make sure, crying as I do so. No heartbeat anymore. So I call Dr. Bausch back again. To let her know it is over. The dog died from liver failure, there was nothing we could have done. I know this. But it was hard to see him die, just as I walk into work..

This off course is the day before Thanksgiving, so Thursday I only had to come in a few hours at night. And Friday I had the day off. But Monday, again.. I walk in and see we have two dogs and a cat, all on fluids. As usual, I go check on the animals before anything else. One, Wilbur, has been there since Tuesday last week. But Monday morning he was NOT looking good, in fact I thought at first it was too late.. Until I see his eye flutter. The relief! But then I turn to look at Cuddles... And this time there is no question about it.. Cuddles has passed away sometime during the night.

Two dead patients in less then a week.. Makes for a long week! At least today all the overnighters were alive when I came in to work. Makes for a much better day!!

Also, Barb gave me a new scrub top!! With Siamese kittens on it!! She is so nice!!
Rich brought me lunch at work since he had to work tonight.

Tomorrow is Dec. first and the calender's are ready to go!! I am getting some Christmas spirit I think!!
